I'm trying to use the TRIM function on several hundred rows, but when I try to copy the function down the column by double clicking the bottom right corner of the cell containing the TRIM function, the exact string in that cell is copied down instead of the formula. Does anyone know why this would happen? Several YouTube videos show that this action should copy down the formula.

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
Do you have the cells formatted as text ??

Does <ctrl><d> work? Select the cell you want to copy down and the range you want to copy it down and press and hold the CTRL key and then press D. This should do the same thing.

Oh another thing...do you have calculation switched on in the options? Sometime if people have massive sheets which take a long time to load this is switched off. To check that it isn't this press F9 which will force the sheet to recalculate after doing the <CTRL><D> thing</d></ctrl>
