Re: Can you make this no. to match the other no. by picking from the list ?

yes, i made attempts with trial and error method, but i suspect there should be a a more refined method to sort this issue out, trial and error is so crude in these time and age.

Yes, but WHAT did you try and how close was it to what you want? Please provide the formulae that you tried. Don't expect others to pick it up and do it from scratch for you.

No, i picked no's at random from the set, there is no particular formula i used , only copy , paste and delete. Crude method, unfortunately.

and how was it suggested that you solve the query posed ? were you told to decide if a formula or vba was suitable, what Goal Seeking have you been learning

The best solution i got was -20362,5260,4400,550,17400,38600,37500,125640 with a difference of 4 from final total.
Trial and error, maybe a GOAL-SEEK modified method can help to narrow the difference.

So did you just guess? Or did you use some formula? You are not convincing me that you have tried anything beyond guesswork so far - sorry.

I have no idea, that is why i ask if a macro or formula can be used. But see above response based on trial and error method. Yes, only guesswork. What else is there ??

This generally a forum of self help, everybody can have a say, it doesn't just take peoples problems in and provide bespoke answers (can do if you want to pay the specialists), hence asking what course you are taking. Suppose you were given a brilliant answer, well above the level you are learning at and tomorrow couldn't butter a slice of bread, you have learned nothing.

So what is it you have been learning so far?
