Can I "lock" an Excel file from being uploaded to Google Sheets, or make it unusable/disable?

Hello-
Not sure this is the right spot for this one...
I have issues with coworkers uploading an Excel file that I have password-protected into Google Sheets, which removes all of the protections I have created (sigh), and allows them to see hidden sheets, etc.

I am wondering if there is some way, without using a macro, to prevent users from uploading an Excel file into Google Sheets.
I think the answer is no, so the applicable question might be whether there is a way to make the Excel file produce errors if they try to use in Google, or at least alert them that they shouldn't be using in Google?

My goal is to keep the master file in Excel, and not have to build a dumbed-down version in Google Sheets for use.
Thanks-
