Wondering if anyone has any experience with this or can shed some light:

Currently, I'm getting ready to go into a presentation with a hefty spreadsheet and I'd like to know if I can link a specific cell in Excel to a specific slide in PP.

For example, let's say I have a cell holding a net revenue figure. In addition, I have a PP slide show with one specific slide that breaks down this net revenue figure in a more visual format. Is there anyway I can easily link a specific cell in Excel to a specific PP slide?

I've tried using the Hyperlink command, but it seems to only allow me to link a particular cell to the general slide show instead of specific slide within that show. One possible workaround would be to break each individual slide out into it's own PP file (i.e. slide 1 becomes: slide1.ppt, slide 2 becomes: slide2.ppt, etc.) and link them up that way. However, that seems like a rather cumbersome process and I would think that there might be an easier way.

Any thoughts are definitely appreciated.

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
Try this:

Open the PP Slideshow and copy the slide you wish to insert. Now go to your Excel file and choose Edit>Paste Special. Select the Hyperlink option and click OK. This should work.

Thanks for the thought, however, I'm not looking to insert the slide into the spreadsheet, I just want to link a piece of information in the spreadsheet to a slide that explains it further.

Basically, in this presentation, most of the focus will be on the spreadsheet itself, however, there are a few items I'd like to say, "Okay, here's the net revenue figure (Cell #X)" and then be able to click on the figure itself which would bring up the PP slide. Then, I would continue, "And here's how we arrived at this figure," and the slide explains/expands upon how we arrived at a given figure. Basically, I want to link up the strictly numerical values in the cells with a more visual explanation on a slide.

Perfectly fine with me if I have to move back and forth between PP and Excel, I just don't want to have to move through the entire PP show looking for a specific slide, I want Excel to call up the slide in question.

Let me know if I've only confused the issue, because I think it's a fairly simple concept but sometimes hard to put into words.

Maybe I'm missing something, but when I open PP and copy a slide (Say Slide 3), and then go to Excel and choose Edit>Paste Special Hyperlink, it inserts a Hyperlink to that slide named Slide 3. This links to that slide in PP and calls it up when I click on the link. I can also Edit the display of the link to read whatever I want (Instead of Slide 3).

You are indeed correct, Lenze, it's working perfectly and just as you described. Many thanks for both the initial reply and the follow-up!!

Hi Lenze,

Following your steps, I go to paste special and then select paste link but nothing changes in the window and when I select ok the slide is pated.

Seems buggish to me. Any ideas?
