I inherited a lot of charts. The data files used to create them no longer exist and I need the data in cells. Basically, going backwards from the normal "make a chart from data." I know how to get data from a picture using Excel and I was hoping there's a trick like that for charts. Somebody, please make me happy.

If I create a chart and delete the data then the chart still exists but shows nothing so I'm not quite sure what you have.

All that I can think is that what you can see is an image of what the chart was but this probably insults your intelligence. I apologise.

I'm not quite sure why somebody would want to do this, remove the data, as charts are quite often used to represent change over time.

If you go into Select Data, what does the Chart Data Range say?

The link is no longer valid. The chart shows the data from the last time it was.

If the chart is still an actual chart rather than a picture, you should be able to get the values from the SERIES formulas in it.
