Can Excel Recognize the "SYMBOL 252" check Mark in a Conditional Formatting scheme

I would like to set a scenario where I have a list in Column A with a value in column B. But I would like to be able to use the Wingdings symbol 252 (the Check Mark) as a character. When the check mark symbol is entered into Column C then the Column B cell will be formatted per a Conditional Formatting Scheme based on the check mark.

Is this doable?

I am aware of boxed check mark, my goal is to not have to use that version if I don't have to. I'm not a fan...per se.

So..Road block...

So far no luck...
I have entered
="IF(C3=(Char(252)"
="if (C3="the u with 2dots"symobol)
Nothing I have entered has changed the B3 cell as needed

According to this table, it looks lik the check mark is ASCII code 251, not 252.

You don't need the if just use
=$C3=char(252)
or
=$C3="ü"

Fluff..I did try the formulas you posted...they did not work either.

It worked...I was putting the parenthesis around the "CHAR"!!
