Calling a sub in one addin from another with parameters

I have and addin (.xla) and a ribbon bar (.xlam) loaded. Let's call them APP and BAR.

BAR needs to call 'APP.xla'!Say( "Hello" ). When I do this, it calls the sub ... twice. I can't find a way around this. It seems like an old Excel bug that was never fixed. Anyone running into this? Any work-around?
