calculating time formulas

I am working on a spreadsheet and having trouble with the formulas to calculate the times for each of the columns.
I would like to be able to enter the times and have it calculate the rest. I am so frustrated and there has to be an easier way.

Maybe something like that??

Thats great but I need to calculate from that the dayshift hours and the evening shift and night shift.
I was trying to use countif formula but I can't get it to work.

Aren't all the shifts separated into different sets of cells?

A1 = day in
B1 = day out
C1 = evening in
D1 = evening out
E1 = night in
F1 = night out

If so, you could just use the same formula for each set of cells.

Or it could very well be I'm not understanding what you have going on.
