This should be easy, but I keep messing it up.

The quizzes in a class I'm teaching add up to 60% of the grade.
The exam counts for 40 percent.

Suggest a formula?

Student has a 65 average for the quiz portion, 36 for the exam.

Thanks in advance.

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
Hi,

To get a weighted percentage it is score*(weight/100)

so I think you want 65*(60/100)+36*(40/100)

which =53.4%

Is that what you expected?

In excel replace the numbers with the cells containing the scores.

Hope this helps,

Eric Golf

Edit - Note - Averaging the quizzes percentage only works if all quizzes are weighted the same i.e. same number of questions. otherwise you should take sum all correct answers over sum all questions.

Thanks, Eric. That's it exactly.
