Hi,

I am trying to create a calculated field to remove the left part of a field called subject which has the following information:
ABC 510 Material Handling
ABC 512 Drawing
ADFR Making Components
AFBA Teamwork

The calculated field should show:
Material Handling
Drawing
Making Components
Teamwork

If the subject starts with ABC then the first 8 characters need to be removed, else the first 5 characters removed.

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
Something like:-
Trimmed: IIf(InStr([subject]," ")=4,Right([subject],Len([subject])-8),Right([subject],Len([subject])-5))
Should do the trick

HTH

Peter

Edited to correct where to look for space
