I presume I have a fundamental misunderstanding, but how would I imitate the excel sumif function using [@[Column]] criteria

Excel Facts

Ambidextrous Undo
Undo last command with Ctrl+Z or Alt+Backspace. If you use the Undo icon in the QAT, open the drop-down arrow to undo up to 100 steps.
=SUMIF([Column1];[@Column2];[Column3])

with column 1 as range, cell in same line column 2 as criteria and column 3 as sum range

Spiller and Kamolga didn't realize they were in the PowerBI forum. That happens :)

OP, for that style you will need to add a FILTER().

It's going to depend on exactly what you are trying to do, but something like:
=CALCULATE(SUM(Facts[foo]), FILTER(SomeTable, SomeTable[Col1] = Facts[Col]))
