I have a large spreadsheet. column A has sequential list of dates 2005 - current date. Column G has entries for delivery (numerical amount) on the actual delivery date (corresponding with Column A). I would like to determine the average number of days/weeks between deliveries. All cells in Column G that are not used are empty.

Thank you for your help.

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
This might be a little simplistic, but maybe:]

Simple works just as good as complex, and it is easier to type!!!

Here is what I did with your formulae... since I am working in one sheet of a workbook and referencing another sheet in the same workbook)
=(TODAY()-'DAILY VALUES'!A2)/COUNTA('DAILY VALUES'!G2:G4308)

Thank you for your quick reply and assistance.
