Hey everyone,
We are members of the Lake Township Chamber of Commerce. Each holiday, the Chamber prints up a stack of paper candles and each merchant sells them. I've sure you've seen this concept before - you pay a few bucks for a candle, write your name on it - and then the store posts them on a wall or in a window. By the holiday, the store has a wall full of brightly colored candles and the charity gets a nice donation.
The charity is an organization called FISH - it is a local non-denominational charity who will use the money to buy food and clothing for the needy this holiday.
My initial reaction was that I couldn't really participate in this cool program because I had no walk-in traffic. I tried to shake my kids down for a few bucks and hung the candles on the wall of my office, but it doesn't compare to the impressive display of 300 candles taped to the walls of the Frontier Restaurant down the street.
Thanks to Roy at IRubin Consulting, we've been able to adapt the paper candle concept and are selling virtual candles to hang on the virtual wall below.
Donate $3 to buy a candle. When you get to the checkout page, there is a comments box. In that box, type how you would like your candle personalized. You can type your name, or your business, or simply good wishes. Anything non-obscene goes.</a>
100% of the money (I will donate the credit card fees) will go to the charity. 5 candles will rotate at the bottom of each message board page, or you can click a candle to see the whole wall of candles. The candles will stay up through Christmas. This is a great opportunity to bring together our virtual MrExcel community to raise money for a good cause.
Thanks for hanging out at the message board, and thanks for considering your support for this project.
