Hi,
Long time viewer - first time poster.

I am currently putting together a building programme with dates in the cells which are linked to each other with timeframes (ie Cell D9 has say date with 1/10/11 and Cell E9 =D9+1 which then shows 2/10/11 for example).

Now, once this task is complete, ie cell D9 is complete, i would like to be able to type in 100 (as in 100%). But when i do this, cell E9 which is linked to D9 changes to another format - not a date format.

Is there something someone can help me with???

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance guys!

Do you hate GETPIVOTDATA?
Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off
Have you tried selecting the column in question and changing its format to date? When I do this sort of thing on Excel 2003, it seems to work fine.

Anyways, I am curious as to what you are going for here - why add the percentage complete of a project to a date? If I finish a project today, it doesn't suddenly become tomorrow.

Cheers, :)

Hi,
i tried to print screen and paste - but this doesnt work.

Not sure how much you know about building/construction so i will try to keep it simple.

If i have a date to pour concrete - say 1/10/11 and this is in cell D9;
and i will stand timber frames on the 2/10/11 or in cell E9 i put the formula =D9+1 (cells are in date format);

once i have completed the concrete pour, i want to show that this is 100 % complete by entering 100. I need this for my weekly meetings to show the progress of works on site, and to also show the dates that we are targeting to complete the different items when building a house. Ie plasterboard, paint, joinery, tiling etc.

I wish i could past a print screen so you can see what i am trying to achieve.

Thanks for your help anyways.

George,

Nothing you are asking for seems particularily difficult to do - I was just curious why you were adding the percentage complete to a date.

In any case, personally I think you should take a look at some of the free templates that are out there. Vertex42.com has some good ones like this one that seems pretty much what you are looking for.
