Hi all ,

I am looking for Bridge chat but instead of normal column chart bridge which indicates delta change it should be shown by pie.

Let say opening revenue 2008- 500k Re and 2009- 600K Re .2010 550k Re

80 k Given by Product 1 and product 2 (20) k and product 3 40k .

usually up and down is shown by column chart with base invisible.

however what i am looking is opening 500k and closing 600 k revenue will be column as usual but delta change indicator should be pie. same for 2010 as this will continuous bridge chart.

Any links or steps to build is greatly appreciated . thanks.

i am using excel 2007

Glenn,Thanks for replay.

I know this version of Bridge chart. But i am looking for particular variant where pie charts sits on between top of 2 column opening and closing balance.

in above example in case of normal bridge chart,

column with invisble base shows +80 up -20 down and +40 up to show how closing revenue arrived from opening creating bridge.

however in this variant ,pie shows these 3 values as i said siting. on between top of 2 column opening and closing balance and also continuous bridge.

I don't believe that you can combine a pie chart with any other chart type.

To do what you are talking about, you would need to create 2 different charts, then overlay them in your worksheet.

Then make the chart in front have a chart fill area=no fill

How do you propose showing positive and negative areas in a pie chart? Pie charts are hard enough to interpret accurately without such incompatibilities. The nice thing with a bridge chart (waterfall chart) is that positive changes move the total upward, and negative changes move the total downward.

Jon,

You are right column bridge is better .However i wanted try pie version one.

+ve - ve difference , may be shown with bar with pie with -ve value in bar.

Thanks

If all increments within one step have the same sign (all positive or all negative) you could justify the pie as a means of showing % of total. But they still are not easy to interpret with any precision.
