Hello everyone. I am new to this forum as well as the world of VBA. :) I am looking to find a recommendation for a book that will assist me with VBA in Excel. What i am trying to do (for now) is: Have Excel open an Access query (this query requires a start date and end date be entered before the data is pulled), take this data and place it into the Excel spreadsheet, and then format the columns of this spreadsheet. Any recommendations for this?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Hi & Welcome to the Board!

There aren't many books that deal exclusively with a topic like data retrieval from Access/Other db to Excel, but one of the best is:

Excel Advanced Report Development, by Timothy Zapawa

there is also a version of this book targeted at xl2007, so if you are using this version of Excel, that is the one to get.

Other alternatives are:

Managing Data with Microsoft Excel by Conrad Carlberg

and for a more generalist tome on VBA I would recommend:

Excel 2002 VBA Programmer's Reference

(there's also a 2007 version of this book which is excellent, but make sure you do not buy the 2003 version which had no input from the original authors and was rubbish).

If you are in Office 2007 or later, there's a book by Michael Alexander you might be interested in.

Microsoft Excel and Access Integration: With Microsoft Office 2007

In defense of this edition (Excel 2003 Programmer's Reference), I've come across several negative reviews. However, I happen to have used it a lot and found it to be very good - not knowing at the time that I "should" buy the earlier edition. I suppose its moot now, though, since the latest edition is both up to date and back to its original, top notch authorship. Actually, the chapter on ADO was particularly helpful for me, apropos of Access-Excel integration.
