Blank SQL Query Designer Panes

A familiar opening comment I am sure but I'm new to PowerPivot and am currently working through several user manuals using the Access version of AdventureWorks as sample source data.

When connecting to the database I have no issues using the select from list of tables method, however, when switching to the write a query option and selecting 'Design View' I effectively get a window divided into two blank panes. All investigation so far have suggested that should be looking at a multi pane window with a directory and relationship and filter managers.

Similarly when viewing the table properties of an existing query, the query editor will only give me a view of the SQL statement rather than the GUI version

I am unsure if this is an issue with my new installation of PowerPivot or if I am missing a fundamental step in the process. Any suggestions gratefully recieved.

On the table properties issue... I have heard this one before. Once you are in "text editting mode" for a query, there is no way back to the gui mode. However, ... some people report getting stuck in text editting their queries mode, having never touched manual queries like that. Dunno, I have not seen it personally.

You are kinda stuck at that point. You could nuke the table and reimport, getting you back to gui mode, just be careful to recreate calc columns, measures, and relationships.

I'm not familiar with your other issue.

Ok, thanks for the reply Scott. I am not too far into this process to start again. I'll rebuild the tables and see how it goes from there.
