Is it possible to add a before close code that runs some of trim that will look at column AE and remove any spaces that may be at the end of any data in a cell?

Hello,
You could add something like this in your workbook.close event.
Be careful that it will erase the formulas if present, and replace them with the cell values instead.
VBA Code:
Sub xyz()
  Range("AE:AE").Value2 = Evaluate("TRIM(AE:AE)")
End Sub
