Greetings.

I'm a new (a.k.a. "newbie") user to Access and have a quick question.

The "Update" Query seems to counter-intuitive.

Field: [destinationfield]
Table: [the update 'to' table]
Update To: [the update 'from' table].sourcefield

Why is this? Or am I missing something really obvious? The "Update To" box is throwing me. Shouldn't it be "Update FROM"?

Thanks for your help.

If you start asking yourself if now is a good time to save your Excel workbook, the answer is Yes
Yes, I believe that you have it backwards:
-"Field" is the field that you'd like Updated
-"Table" is the table which that field is in
-"Update To" is the value which you would like that field Updated to (what the field will "change into").
-Don't forget to specify criteria or it will Update every field in this column with your "Update To" information

Dug already replied but I was in the middle so I'll add my 2 cents :ROFLMAO:

Try an append query if your trying to update one table from another table and add records, the update query changes existing records like price increases, or from one thing to another.. Read the Help file to give yourself a better idea.
