Please help! I'm in a desperate predicament. I have several Excel spreasheets from separate sources. The spreadsheets are all slightly different, but have a common field, "PO Number." I need to "bash" the 2 vendor spreadsheets against the 3 company spreadsheets using "PO Number" as the primary key. The "bash" should produce fallout that shows only "non-matches." I want to see the POs that are on the company spreadsheets and NOT on the vendor sheets. I've just been told that I need to do this in Access. I do have access on my PC here in the office, but have never used it. No training either.

I have managed to import the Excel spreadsheets to 5 Access tables. Can anybody help me? Thanks.

Stephanie

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
Welcome to the board :)
The easy answer is goto the query tab, select new and use the query wizard to build you a query to find unmatched records. This will match one table against another, if that is all you need then fine but as you have 3 tables v 2 tables it depends on if you want to match them seperatley or all of the company v all of the vendors in one go.
You could join them in Access but you will probably find it easier to do in Excell and just import the combined tables.

If you are happier working in Excel I am sure that someone in that forum would be able to work out a formula for you to find the unmatched PO Numbers in Excel for you

Re: "Bash" sprsheets/tbles together to produce non

Peter,
Should I post the same question in an Excel forum? I don't want to double post if it's not allowed.

And thanks for the tip!

if you would rather do it in Excel then post in the Excel forum for a spreadsheet solution.
But try it in Access anyway. Access is fun as long as you keep taking the tablets :)

Peter,
Thanks again. I'll post it in Excel just to learn how to do it that way.
