Backing up a Back-End Database

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().
Sure. Just use any scheduling program (like Windows Scheduler) to run a job that copies the database over at that time every day.

If you look at the second to last post in the following thread, it shows you how to create a batch file that will copy any file and give it a date stamp:
Batch file to copy and rename file with today's date - DosTips.com

So you could just set up a batch file like that and run it by scheduler.

You mean trying to have the database back-up itself?
I suppose so, but probably wouldn't recommend it, for a few reasons:
- you may have some record locks if trying to have an open database copy itself
- it would require you to have Access open everyday at that time

If you are interested in using Access to do the backup, it would be best to use a DIFFERENT access database to do it.
Then you could have your Scheduler open the Access database at 6:00 PM everyday. You could set it up so that whenever the database opens, it creates the backup and closes itself.
Have a look here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...database/c1856972-84ce-44fa-8e2f-8d8373faa2e6

As you can probably see, I think the batch file solution is much simpler!;)
