This is my first time posting here and am very new to excel, but feel as for the most part have a good grasp on the basics that I need for work.

I am creating a monthly ledger for my restaurant. What I am needing is this. I am taking my total sales against my COG's for a total percentage of goods. All my equations work perfectly to this point. My problems comes into play when for the monthly total equation. I want the current total percentage of COG's to create a constant average day to day ultimately totaling the monthly average of COG's. Is there a way to have this calculate with out all of the numbers being entered as not to get an error?

Here is what an example

a1 % b1 %
a2 % b2 %
a3 % b3 %
a4 % b4 %

A8 =total cog to date b8= total cog to date c8= average(a8+b8)

Any help would be greatly appreciated the problem is i keep getting this when one row has not had anything entered in it #div/0!

Hi

try putting something like this in the cell you wish the answere. What it does is ask a question!

if yourcell (Could be a1) has a value greater than nothing, then do yoursum else enter nothing in this cell.

=if(yourcell > "",Yoursum,"")

regards

I apologize I am still a touch confused on how to enter this i.e the meaning behind the steps. if you could break it down with false cells entered so I know how to enter it that would be perfect. "i hope" thank you in advance

Hi

Cell A1 has a value of 10
Cell B1 has a value of 2

enter into cell d1 the following

=IF(OR(C3>"", C3>0),B3/C3,"")

THISGIVES YOU AN IDEA OF HOW THE IF - OR WORKS, MODIFY IT TO SUITE YOU. IF CELL B1 IS EMPTY OR EQUALS ZERO, NOTHING HAPPENS,.

REGARDS
