Hello everyone my name is Brandon and i'm new here.
I am having a problem with coming up with a formula and was hoping someone could help a new person to excel.
I have made a spreadsheet report that splits up a 8 hour shift in half cause we our overtime is done by half shifts.

I was hoping someone can help me with a formula.
examples:

1st half 4
2nd half 3
answer = 3.5

1st half 6
2nd half 4
answer = 5

1st half 1
2nd half 2
answer = 1.5

It like finding the common number and dividing the remaining by 2 and adding it between the shifts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().
Hi Brandon and welcome.

If the 1st half is in A1 and the second half is in A2, then the formula you want is (A1+A2)/2.
