I assumed autonumber would start at 1 and increment by 1, and i don't see any option to set the seed and increment.

I just started entering records in a table with an autonumber field and noticed the numbers started at 453054268 and incremented by 1.

They are guaranteed to be unique within a table, right? That's the whole point of autonumber, so I figure they are.

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
um, ok... made a new table with autonumber, and it started at 1 and incremented by 1; no clue why the other one started at 453054268

Just so you know, you can always depend on Autonums to be unique. In order to reset the Seed in a table which already exists, Compact and Repair your database and, if there are no records currently stored in a particular table, the Seed will reset to 1.
