Hello,

This is my 1st post and I am a complete newbie to excel and vba so apologies if i am not making any sense.

My manager has tasked me to run an impromptu imr file on a daily basis which i then save the file as an excel file once it has run.
Each day, many other colleagues also run several of other impromtu files which then slows it down and takes over 2-3 hours to run.

I wanted to ask for your advice. Is there a way to make my life easy, somehow automatically run this at 3am in the morning so that no one else will be running anything and when i come to work, the file would have been done and saved as an excel file.

Apologies if i am asking a stupid question.

Has anyone got any links where i can learn vba?

Excel Facts

Workdays for a market open Mon, Wed, Friday?
Yes! Use "0101011" for the weekend argument in NETWORKDAYS.INTL or WORKDAY.INTL. The 7 digits start on Monday. 1 means it is a weekend.
Hi,

I have no clue how this is working. Would this work automatically even though the file i am running is not an excel file but i save that file as an excel file?

On the impromptu file, when i open it, i have to press ok for the file to be run.
Once it has completed i save as an excel.xls file.

What can i do to use the ontime method to do this.
I will check out hikers list.

Thank you hun

I think that I misunderstood - OnTime will only work with VBA code in Excel files.

Take a look at Windows Task Scheduler for running other processes automatically.
