I have two versions of excel 2003 & 2007, but when I'm extracting or opening excel from within other programs - it automaticly chooses 2007, what I really want is 2003. Does anyone have any ideas?

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
Also have a look at:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928091

The paragraph you need is: "Office files in Microsoft Windows Explorer"

The solution is not obvious but you need to insert the Office 2003 installation disk and "Repair Office" after having installed the versions in the correct sequence.

I am not sure whether I ever did this with Excel 2003/2007 but I certainly did it with Excel 2003/XP/97 installed.

Another way for Excel 2002 & 2007:
Desktop > Start > Run > type the command line:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE10\EXCEL.EXE" /regserver
and press OK button

After that XLS, XLA files will be opened in Excel 2002, but XLSX, XLSB,XLSM – in Excel 2007.
