I am trying to set up a conditional formatting rule that will automatically SUM the value I input into the conditionally formatted cell with a number from an adjacent cell.

For instance, if I apply this conditionally formatted rule to M1: =SUM(K1,M1)
I would like whatever number I input into cell M1 to SUM with any value that is shown in K1.

So far, I have not been successful in figuring out how to do this.

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
Re: Automatically SUM Active Cell With Value in Another Cell

Conditional formatting can be used to change the format of a cell or range of cells, but not the value of the cell or cells. When conditional formatting is set up using a formula rule, the formula must evaluate to TRUE or FALSE.

If you are willing to use VBA, a change-event macro can be written which will automatically add the value in K1 to whatever numeric value is entered manually to M1 by a user.

Thank you, Joe. I suspected that an answer like the one you gave would be the one I'd get.

I'd be willing to use code, but I'm actually trying to accomplish my goal in Google Sheets. Do you have a suggestion that will work in that environment?

Sorry, I have scant knowledge of Google Sheets.
