Hi,

I noticed that when I reference two cells and try to subtract one from the other excel automatically changes this to a strange "table reference". How can I get rid of this?

=Table18[@[AMOUNT
EOY]]-Table18[@[AMOUNT
BOY]]

should be =A1-B1

Thanks,

Hello,

You can write your formula one row below, and then cut/paste it in its original position.

But i'd recommand using those "weird table references", they're way better than cell references, unless you need the cell to be static ($A$1).

To turn it off completely, see the options.

I disagree that they are better.

With this type of table reference you can't copy the formulas to other worksheets because the new worksheet formula uses the old table name. This makes development more difficult because you have to make the changes again and again. I don't know if this is a new feature because I think its the first time I have seen it. But excel has a habit of changing things and adding new features that no one wants and then foisting them on you by default. Like the feature that automatically supposedly "optimizes" your spreadsheet. This is just an annoyance.
