Hey! Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast.
I'm Bill Jelen.
Well this one isn't about charting and actually, I've been running along all this week.
So, this will be an easy one, just one of those cool tricks for Excel 2007.
You know, normally we have headings at the top of a data set at large data set and you scroll down through the data set and you lose the headings.
You can't see the headings anymore.
So, in previous versions of Excel of course, we had to use freeze panes but in Excel 2007, provided you define this data as a table.
You won't have to freeze panes anymore it and to go with the table, it's just [ ctrl + T ], or back here on home.
Use format as table format as table.
Actually, allows us to choose the format to use.
So, we can choose a format there, click [ ok ].
Now, watch this as I scroll down those headings which are in Row 1 are going to move up and replace the A through H labels.
There it is, isn't that cool.
So, as you scroll down no need to use freeze panes anymore.
All you have to do is [ Ctrl + T ].
Now, for me I hate having the auto filter drop downs there.
So, I usually come back here and turn those off, just that way they're not taking up any space and then very cool of course, the other huge advantage here is.
It will automatically fill our formulas in.
So, equal profit divided by revenue and bam!
It just copies it right down.
Lots of cool stuff that comes along with a table, but I wanted to talk about today is just getting those headings up there.
So, that way they're always visible.
Never have to worry about freeze panes, again.
Want to thank you for stopping by, we'll see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel.
