By automating, do you mean automatically refresh the result in a worksheet in the same workbook as your query? If so, and you are using Excel 2016 with an external data source, here are the steps:
In the ribbon, go to the Data tab and in the Connections group click on the Connections button and the Connections dialog will open. Select your connection, click the Properties... button and when the connection properties dialog launches, set the refresh options on the usage tab.
