Any idea how I would apply a conditional format (cell colour of a table) in word based on a condition of the amount of characters?

For example, if the given cell has more than 1000 characters in it, turn red.

Thank you

Hi yoda,

You can't. You could use a macro to do the processing, but there's nothing that would trigger this automatically once you exceed the 1000 character mark - you'd need to re-run the macro every time you edited the cell/table.

You could, however, use an embedded Excel worksheet, which gives you access to Excel's conditional formatting tools.

You can enter a formula in the conditional formatting, something like:

=(LEN(A1))>7

Then select the formatting you want to apply

Hi jdivito,

That's complete nonsense: Word doesn't support the LEN function, much less conditional formatting of table cells.
