I just spent about 30 mins on a post and when I went to submit it I got a message saying I had been logged out and had to log in again. As a result, I lost my post.

>> Why did it log me out !!!

Did you fill in the Remember me checkbox when you initially logged in?

Shouldn't matter if Remember Me is set or not. Remember Me just saves your username so it's easier to log in. The problem is it logged me out for no reason. Usually auto logouts are triggered by x minutes of inactivity but in this case I was working on the post so the inactivity timer should not have timed out.

In addition I never got a warning "we're about to log you out, click to stay logged in" after x- minutes of inactivity as most sites do?
I'm on a macBook, does that matter? Am I doing something wrong?

It always has made a difference on the board but if you think otherwise who am I to argue

That is not correct. "Remember Me" DOES keep you from being automatically logged out.
And every time you come back to the site from that computer, you will automatically be logged in (so you wouldn't want to use that on a Public computer that others also use).
