Auto complete with source sheet

I have multiple links between spreadsheets, one in particular uses a data validation drop filter menu which when changed from one week to another, it should update the information it gathers, which it does, provided I have the source sheet open. Is there a way around this, so that I don't need the source sheet open, without having to combine all spreadsheet in to one epic one?
