Assigning a specific key press to force calculate now

I have been sent an Excel file that generates random maths questions.
I understand how this is happening and how it has been set up ... BUT

It has a message that says "press delete for a new question"
So pressing delete recalculates all the formulae over four worksheets

I know I can do this by pressing the F9 key but ...
How have they assigned the "delete" button to do that (& can I specify any key be assigned to do this?)
The file does not contain any macros

Thanks for any advice

Who is Mr Spreadsheet?
Author John Walkenbach was Mr Spreadsheet until his retirement in June 2019.
Thank you for that suggestion but I may have not explained my issue clearly.
The author of the excel file has the text "press delete for a new question" for the students.
I would like to know how they have assigned the "delete" key to recalculate the formulae in the workbook

Unless I am misunderstanding the information in the link you provided, it seems to show a way of providing a recalculate button to the quick access toolbar?
My apologies if I haven't understood.

Somehow this person has assigned the delete key to do this. Im wondering how they did that.

 I wasn't aware you could do that.
I thought that you could only assign keyboard shortcuts via either, the QAT, or a macro.

Sorry for not replying sooner - I have been away.
I contacted the person who wrote the file ... and you are right Fluff!
He said delete just triggers a recalculation so he put that that text in the file.

I would have used a text saying press F9 but he choose to use the delete key.

So if anyone comes across this thread in the future - you can't do what I thought he was doing.
I didn't realise that the delete key triggers a recalculation.

Sorry to have bothered you - and a big thank-you Fluff for your time and expertise.
Much appreciated - I have learned something.
