I am new to Arrays and can't get a beginner Array Formulas to work. Specifically the Ctrl+Shift+Enter sequence does not get {} around the formulas.

Example of what I am doing:

A B C
1 Number Price Total
2 5 2200
3 4 1800
4 6 2300

I highlight cells C2:C4.
Type the formula =A2:A4*B2:B4
Press and hold Control key, press and hold Shift key
before I can press the Enter key, the column C is highlited and the answer 11000 is in cell C2 and nothing in cells C3 or C4.
There are no {} in any cells.
I know that Ctrl+Shift is the Excel hot key for select column
If I press Ctrl+Shift anywhere without entering a formula it selects the column.

So next I try:
I highlight cells C2:C4.
Click in the formula bar (I didn't in example above)
Type the formula =A2:A4*B2:B4
Press and hold Control key, press and hold Shift key, press the Enter key and release all.
What I get is the answer in all cells like this:

A B C
1 Number Price Total
2 5 2200 11000
3 4 1800 7200
4 6 2300 13800

There are no {} in any cells and the formulas in the cells are:

A B C
1 Number Price Total
2 5 2200 =A2:A4*B2:B4
3 4 1800 =A3:A5*B3:B5
4 6 2300 =A4:A6*B4:B6

If I click Edit, GoTo, Special, Current Arrry: I get "No cells were found"

What am I doing wrong?
Is an Add-In needed?
Is some Option setting not right?

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
For me Ctrl+SpaceBar selects the entire column.

You will get the formula in the cells if the cells are formatted as Text.

I tried formatting at text and get the formulas. Then tried formatting as number with no change in results. What I want is an Array with {} around the formula. How do I get the {} that indicate that an Array formula was entered correctly in my example? Note the spaces I entered to indicate A,B,C columns did not come through on the example above.

Format the cells as something other than Text, eg General. If you have already entered the formula, select C2:C4 and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter (note the Shift is the key above the Ctrl key). If you haven't already entered the formula, select C2:C4, enter the formula and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter.
