Hi All,

I want to build a rostering system.

Basically we have a number of drivers of coaches that can work different period (eg one driver can work afternoons and another can only work morning etc).

I need to be able to input

an employees available times as well as any times they are unavailable (holidays, lunch breaks etc) and the bus runs that we need to have drivers for.

Then I want access or excel or whatever to spit out the best logical roster to achieve it.

Is this something Access or Excell can do? If not does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
Check out Microsoft Project,

It exists for the purpose of doing what you requested (and more).

If purchasing this isn't an option, then your choice of Access or Excel woud depend on your knowledge of the two. If you're good with Excel, that will probably provide a faster, easier solution. Access would be my recommened route, if you know the software, in that it will give you more flexibility to add drivers and routes.
