Hi All~

I have a user who created a database that will be placed on a shared drive for others to enter data. She will also keep a local copy of it for herself.
What would be the easiest way for her to get her local copy updated by the shared copy?

Thanks all!

How to calculate loan payments in Excel?
Use the PMT function: =PMT(5%/12,60,-25000) is for a $25,000 loan, 5% annual interest, 60 month loan.
Split the Db into tables on the shared drive, everything else on the local front end. Just give all users a copy of the front end.

Access has a built in utilty called Database Splitter. Under Access 2000 it is at Tools-> Database Utilities -> Database Splitter.

Thanks for the help CT... I am very much a newbie with Access. So once it is split, then how does that work? Do the users on the share get the back end database? What about all of the forms and queries that the users need to work in the database? Sounds like this is what is needed, I just need some info on how it works ;)

This is a method of splitting data and forms/reports etc.

The data database would sit on the shared drive and everyone would have a copy of the database (minus the data) with all the forms etc.

This database would have links to the tables in the other database.

Everybody would then have access to up to date data.
