Hello, I am a relative beginner in the world of access so apologies if I am missing something obvious here!

I have a date column that I am trying to set up in design view so that the input mask is ##/## (ie when the person enters they date they enter the month then year, may 2003 would be entered 05/03) and then format the column so that mmm-yy is displayed (so for 05/03 it would display may-03).

However, whatever i seem to do (i have tried !##/## as well, thats as far as my knowledge extends!), when i enter 05/03 in the table view, the date shows as mar-03. I have got as far as working out this means it thinks i am entering dd/mm when i type in 05/03 but i have no idea how to fix it so that access lets me enter mm/yy by setting the input mask.

HELP!!
