I've been trying to search for the answer to my desire to add icons to the 100+ that appear when you click "Modify" while highlighting an item assigned to the QAT. I try to assign an icon that visually cues me to what the macro or command will do, but there are times when the built-in selection just doesn't suit those needs. Is there any way that an icon file can be added to selection that are in the Modify Button popup box?

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
I did some searching on that also and have found some sources from MS that say no.

Have you tried building your own menus using Custom UI? The process seemed daunting when I first started, but now I find it satisfying and easy. I do believe that you can add external icons, but the number of icons built into MS office is quite extensive. I can create a new Menu item and one new button to a workbook in about 5 minutes. After that, new items take about 30 seconds plus the time to search for an icon.

If you want me to get you started, let me know.
