any tips for improving refresh speeds?

Have a large file (157mb) with 50+ pivot tables and each pivot table is tied to powerpivot models (4 main data loads).... Each time I adjust a filter... I get "reading data..." for 30+ seconds... Having to adjust 50+ pivot tables in this manner is a gigantic waste of time and i'm left wondering if there isn't anything I can do to improve the refresh speeds of powerpivot.
