Alt-F11 does nothing, security set to allow all.

Alt-F11 toggles the text in the green title bar gray and a tiny shadow appears around the window.


Alt-F8. Displays my macros but Edit option only closes the window and the text in the green title bar blinks gray.


In the Trust Center/Macro settings I have Enable all.... set. I also have the box in the Developer settings checked.

Thinking outside the "Box" here. Are you on a laptop and is there an Fn button that has been activated for alternate F Keys? Can't really think of anything else.

Yes, i'm on a Laptop but I r/o the possibility you suggested after extensive testing. After posting this I opened a new workbook, clicked the Developer tab and clicking "Visual Basic", which failed. I then tried the Alt-L-V shortcut and that too failed.

fyi I have had the editor open before, so I know it opens.

Nothing I am aware of.

Again, not that I'm aware of. My security software upgrades routinely, in the background.

I don't know what they are, so I guess I don't.

I did do a re-boot but that didn't help.

It appears that this may not simply be a novice user issue, so maybe it's time to contact my IT provider (Geek Squad) and have them run a "tune up" on my system. Then try again.

The tuneup didn't resolve the issue and the Geeks had no answer either.

But...

I run with two screens, an ext monitor and the screen on my laptop. I seldom put anything on the laptop screen, except Pandora, that plays in the background. But a minute ago, something on the laptop screen caught my eye. It was a very small window in the upper left corner of the laptop screen. I managed to get hold of it and drag it onto my monitor. It turned out to be the VBA editor, opening, in a reduced window on my laptop's screen!
