I have a program that runs off of the data ID (which is for different employees) within Access that makes a barcode.

Is there a way to make the data ID alphanumeric?

so I want the data ID to be "BAY001 (Bill Brittain), BAY002 (Erick Vaughn), BAY003 (Johan Collins)" and so forth for each employee

I put it in the "format" section when setting up the data ID as BAY,0

But when i go to my form view it does not show the alpha just the numeric, but in the collection it shows the alpha numeric

How can i get it to show both?

There is no way to do this with any inbuilt access feature. You'd have to do it yourself (select max ID, then add one to it, then insert new max ID).
I don't see any clear advantage in adding a three character prefix (id 001 is as clear as ID BAY001, and furthermore wouldn't be limited to 999 items. Preferable to me would be a two-column key (one for the prefix, BAY, and one for the number 001) - then you can do anything you want with both together or just one part.
