Hi,

I'm trying to allow the users to edit objects(ie text boxes in this case) in a protected workbook. I followed the instructions behind the link below, so locked certain cells and continued to protecting the sheet. Everything works perfectly until I save & close the workbook. After i reopen the workbook the I'm not able to edit the objects anymore. Does someone have a solution on this?

Thanks!

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
When you protect a sheet, you can select the action that you want to perform while the sheet is protected. If you scroll down in the list, place a check mark beside "Edit Objects".

Thanks for the response. This is how I did it the first time and it works great, until I save and close the document. Somehow the "Edit object" tickbox becomes unticked, so Excel doesn't remember the setup anymore.

That is strange. I tried it with a text box on a dummy sheet, saved the file, closed it, re-opened it and it worked properly. It is always easier to help and test possible solutions if we could work with your actual file. Perhaps you could upload a copy of your file to a free site such as www.box.com. or www.dropbox.com. Once you do that, mark it for 'Sharing' and you will be given a link to the file that you can post here. If the workbook contains confidential information, you could replace it with generic data.

Hi,

I also got it to work with a new workbook. The original workbook has been created with excel 2007, so there might be a bug with that version? Unfortunately I didn't get the permission to download the actual workbook anywhere due to confidential data.
