Allow Edits & Combo boxes

Hi Guy's

I'm a bit new at this, thought i was being clever and have now realised that I'm not as clever as I hoped

I have a simple form, I created a combo box to look up a customer ref no.
which worked, then I set the Forms allow edits properties to "No" and created an "Edit Record" and "Save Record" button.

Trouble is I cannot use my combo box to look up a record with out clicking the "Edit Record" button.

How can I set it so the combo box can be accessed without allowing the other fields to be edited.

I would set the "allow edits" property back to yes. Then just set the "Locked" property to yes for all your fields, keeping the combo box unlocked.

Thanks for that, I haven't tried it yet - but it appears to be common sense for someone who knows, I'm looking at it tomorrow

hopefully I'll get my head around this access thing soon, and start asking you some taxing questions
