Hello Board,

Hopefully this is something simple.

Once I apply any "Conditional Formatting" to an area of cells, I loose the alignment for the (text, number, date, etc..) I had selected for that area. I can't seem to find where (or what method is available) that will allow me to reset the alignment to what I had originally desired.

Any ideas ... ?

Many thanks,
Randy.

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.
I have the same problem today. Not entirely sure why this happens.

I would imagine that any formatting you are trying to apply, such as center-alignment is being overridden by the conditional formatting. That being said, it's kind of odd, since there is no way to format the alignment in conditional formatting.

Exactly ... I keep thinking I'm missing something simple, but maybe not. I really like the functionality that Conditional Formatting provides, however not being able to set the alignment drives me nuts. Hope to get some answers ... the knowledge base on this forum is amazing !

Many thanks
Randy

This issue seems to revolve around a compatibility problem. After selecting FILE / CHECK FOR ISSUES / CHECK COMPATIBILITY, a MS Compatibility Checker box appears and identifies the areas in the workbook that are being effected (loosing functionality). Anybody know of a work around for this ? The spreadsheet I'm having conditional formatting issues with was one created by a different individual long ago using Excel 97 to 2003. I'm now using Excel 2013. Saving the file in Excel 2013 still does reflect the new Excel extension of (xlsx vs xls), and has no effect in solving the issue.

Ideas ?

Thanks in advance.
Randy.
