Hello,

I have developed an excel file that is used by people all over the world.

I am looking for a way to notify people if a new version of the Excel file they are using is available. I was thinking about adding a file to dropdox or OneDrive containing just the version number in a text file and for Excel to check that the two version number match. The version in the Excel File and The version in the text file.

Would this be the best approach or is there another way I can achieve this. I would be keen to know your thoughts and Ideas

Thank you,

John

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
I put some code here > https://www.mrexcel.com/forum/excel-questions/1035260-restrict-excel-functionality-company-wide.html Item 5. You are welcome to try the technique. I don't know how that works against a cloud though

Thank you, I have had a look and I don't think that will work with the cloud. It is the sort of thing I am after though but I would like it to either check a file on the cloud or maybe a keyword in a webpage for example. I can them use this to check for the versions.

Cheers,

John
