I have an advanced filter & based on the filtered information entries needs to be manually added eg based on a value per customer a comment next to it. However the information manually entered must not be lost / misaligned every time the filter is updated

Is Avanced filter still the best option? Is there an alternative filter function (VBA) where I can have the same functionality as advanced filter, but also have manual entries added, kept in refence to the their original entry?

Excel Facts

Ambidextrous Undo
Undo last command with Ctrl+Z or Alt+Backspace. If you use the Undo icon in the QAT, open the drop-down arrow to undo up to 100 steps.
What are you asking?

Are you saying that you want to be able to
- filter several times
- add notes manually to results
- when filter more than once put new results below previous results (retaining prior results and notes)

Not Quite. The advanced filter is copying to another sheet. So when you filter to specific customer & manually enter data, it will be there, but if you filter to new customer the same data will still be there. I want it re-filtered like auto filter would have done.

1. So you want the 2nd filter to filter the filtered data?

have manual entries added, kept in refence to the their original entry?

2. And what does "manual entries added" mean?
- are you adding NEW rows of data?
- are you amending rows that were in the original sheet?

There will be extra columns to the Advanced filter not in the base data file, for comments / notes /calculations referenced to the filter eg customer. Effectively the Filter information becomes a new data based for the updates of the extra column. Nothing will be changed in original data sheet.
This added extra column in the filter must not loose the data or which customer it is referring.

1. Is this what you want?
- I filter the data in sheet "DATA" \ place filtered data in sheet "RESULTS" \ manually add extra information in "RESULTS"
- I filter sheet "DATA" again \ place filtered data in sheet "RESULTS" but retain prior notes (in extra column) for any record that is already in "Results"

2. Is EVERY column in "DATA" also in "RESULTS"?

3. Is column A in "DATA" unique for each record?
