How can we add Aestersk Sign ( * ) in numbers in cell to prove significance. For example in Correlation table we can see correlations numbers but can not identify the significant values by Asterisk* symbol, as we do have in SPSS. Is there any formula in conditional formatting or other tabs?

Welcome to MrExcel.

You can append an asterisk to a number with a number format like:

General"*"

That number format could also be used in Conditional Formatting.

Thank You very much for prompt reply. Basically i am looking for correlation or any analysis outcome with Asterisk. For example How can i get significant result of my calculations with Asterisk * on significant number. Suppose i say and impose restriction that results of my calculation is significant if ranging between 1 to 3. And whenever i get result of my calculations i must found an Asterisk on numbers ranging between 1 to 3 according to formula. I hope i made my request clear. Kindest Regards

In Conditional Formatting choose 'Format only cells that contain' with the rule 'Cell Value between 1 and 3' and use a Number Format like the one I posted.

Data
Name Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 Q5
Bill 2 4 6 4 3
Jones 3 4 5 3 1
Reid 2 4 6 1 4
lynda 5 5 4 2 2
Mike 6 1 5 4 3
Jones 2 5 6 1 1

Results 3.3* 3.8* 5.3** 2.5 2.4
Results are significant at *3 and ** 5

And I wish that ABOVE Results show and must contain * and ** Automatically when we run the analysis
Therefore, I request and i am looking for any Formula, Conditional formatting or whatever which make it happened

What Conditional Formatting did you try exactly?

1. Went to conditional formatting, 2. Selected "format only cell cells that contains", 3. Cell value, 4. between, 5. 1 and 3, 6. Format with goes to "custom format", 7. Format Cell window pop Ups, here i am struck as i could not found any number format instead I found FONT, BORDER AND FILL options 8. Then i change the new formatting rule style from Classic to "icon set" and changed Type from Percent to Number but of no use. I also typed "General"*" with value in value but couldn't succeeded.Hanged up.

Sir, do we know any formula to get it done without conditional formatting? is there any "if" formula can serve the purpose? since i am new in Excel and trying to analyse my Data and please note i am using MS: Excel version 15.11.2 for Macbook.

I highly appreciates your kind consideration, time and reply. i owe you. Regards

I don't have Excel for Mac. Maybe it doesn't have a Number tab in Conditional Formatting like I do in Excel 2010. i don't have any other suggestions, sorry.

Dear Sir, i got it done on my PC and found exactly the same result as you suggested. Thank you very much indeed. Further, i got one ASTERISK in between 1 and 3, I wish to have Asterisk on 1* and 3* like that. is it possible or any trick to get it done?

Again, i am grateful to you, sir
