Hi Everyone,

I'm having difficulty adding a specific slope of -0.9239 over an existing chart (which has a different slope). For an end result, I'm trying to create a column chart with downward trend line slope of -0.55 to be compared with a simple line of a slop of -0.9239

Thanks to everyone for attempting to solve my problem

Excel Facts

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
Add an extra column to your chart data with data in extra column lying along a line with slope whatever you like to make it.

Hi, problem is that I don't have the data to make that specific slope. Adding a new column in the source data would only add new columns in my graph.
To describe what i'm looking for as best I can, I will have a 4 columned graph with a downward slope of -.55 I then want to add a line with the slope of -.92 on top of that graph.

In a Column chart the x-values are not really numeric (i.e., they are not really cardinal values) -- unless the x-axis are dates in which case the x-axis could be either cardinal or nominal (what MS calls category values).

So, if you want to superimpose a lne of a given slope, treat the x-values as 1, 2, 3, etc., irrespective of the visible values.

Alternatively, use a XY Scatter chart, the only Excel chart that supports / requires cardinal x values.
