I have an access table and i want to add a new field .

When I try to do this a message comes up.

"Table xxxxxx is a linked table with some properties that cannot be modified"

The field I want to add is a stand alone field within this table

Can any one help

Whats the difference between CONCAT and CONCATENATE?
The newer CONCAT function can reference a range of cells. =CONCATENATE(A1,A2,A3,A4,A5) becomes =CONCAT(A1:A5)
Depending on your Access version, either
right-click on the table, and click Linked Table Manager,
or go tools/database/Linked Table Manager,
or go tools/add-ins/Linked Table Manager

This will show where the table ACTUALLY is that you're accessing in your current database. To modify the structure you need to open the other database in Access first, and operate on it from there.
